Day 1: Pakse – Champassak (Boat)

Transfer to the Wat Phou barge, a wood-paneled private boat complete with amenities and modern comforts. We cruise south on the Mekong River towards the Champassak, home to the ancient temple complex of Wat Phou which was constructed during the 5th-6th centuries and predates Angkor Wat by over 200 years. Overnight on board. (L, D)

 

Day 2: Champassak – Done Khong (Boat)

We cruise further south to Done Khong Island, the largest of 4,000 islands that rise to the surface during the dry season. We visit the village of Muang Khong and Phapheng Falls, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia, before returning to our boat. Overnight on board. (B, L, D)

 

Day 3: Done Khong – Oun Muong (Boat)

We leisurely cruise among the Mekong islands and surrounding fishing villages before arriving at Oun Moung to explore the 12th century Khmer ruins. Overnight on board. (B, L, D)

 

Day 4: Oup Muong – Pakse (Boat & Road)

Early morning drive back to Pakse and transfer to hotel. End of services. (B)
